How to insert multiple values in a single column

I need to display output as shown below. In Col1, Col2 and Col3 I want to insert values from subqueries. But do not want to use sub-reports... is there any alternative to subqueries.

In Col1, Col2 and Col3 there can be any number of values.

Company

BankCol1Col2Col3AstroTechICICI

123

5

34

MindTreeHDFC

54

8

why don't you want to use a sub-report?

|||

It takes very long time, because i have 17 columns in the report.. its not fisible to insert 15 sub-reports

|||

Ah I understand, and agree. Not sure how else to implement this though...could you insert another table into your main table's cells?

|||

Not resolved yet... any ideas...

|||

One idea would be to build your data using a view. Capture the main data (Company, Bank, ID) and then capture each columns' data (based on the ID in first query). Select from the view.

I think your data would be more like:

ID Company Bank ManagerNames BranchOffices TopSalesNames

1 CompanyA BankOne Jerry, Ted, Lisa Omaha, Chicago Fred, Mary

2 CompanyB BankTwo Paul Lincoln, Springfield, Florence William, John

Not sure if this meets your needs. You may be able to format the multi-value rows once in the report. Hope this helps.

thanks... I will try this

How to insert an image or logo on the report manager?

Is there anybody who knows how to set up the report manager so that it will display an image on the home page of the report manager?

Thanks!

Report Manger was not built to be customizable by default. The only thing you can do is hack it by overwriting the images or to change the CSS file it uses.

You need to look in "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.3\Reporting Services\ReportManager\" or whatever your installation directory is. In there you will find a "Styles" directory that has the CSS and an "images" directory in which you need to look for the .JPG files that start with 48 e.g. The home page user 48folderopen.jpg by default. Depending on which page you are RS will use a different image. The main downside is that you have no control over sizing so your image needs to 48x48 otherwise it will look distorted.

|||

Adam,

Thx for your response. I want to confirm one thing with you. In order to use my own image, do I have to delete the 48folderopen.jpg file and paste my own image? Please tell me the proper procedure.

Sincerely,

|||

I got the answer.

How to improve performance of the report's display while updating the table?

Hello, I need help to improve the performance of select statments in my repo
rt. My report is selecting (lots of data) from a attendance table, while a t
rigger is inserting more than 4000 rows of data into the table.
Can I use nolock table hints in my report? How can I use it?
For example,
select * from table a, table b, table c, table d
Should I write like this for the nolock when I want only the table b use nol
ock table hints:-
select * from table a, table b with (nolock), table c, table dAriel
Are you sure that these tables have no JOIN's condition?
This is a mistake which most users make when using the old-style JOIN syntax
is not specifying the join condition. The result set of your query is
Cartesian Product of four tables. it would generate every possible
combination of rows between them.

posted is incorrect.) But the direct answer to your question is yes
select * From table with (nolock)
You WILL see data in the process of being changed in a transaction for which
the transaction has NOT yet committed ( dirty data)... Also look up in books
on line (readpast).

Yes, my table got join statements within.
select * from table a, table b with (nolock), table c and table d
where a.id = b.id and
b.id = c.id and
c.id = d.id;
// the b table I assume is the attendance table.
uri, did you mean that my result will be wrong after I use the nolock syntax
?
Or you mean it will be wrong in terms of some of the data it linked will be
deleted or updated?
Thanks Again|||Uri was saying that your select has an error in it, but it does not. ( He
probably was just looking quickly.) Each one of the tables is in the where
clause, but you are using an OLD style syntax which is VERY prone to the
kinds of errors that Uri mentioned... Why don't you spend some time getting
used to and using the ANSI style join syntax - you'll be better off ... IE
select * from a inner join b with (nolock) on a.id = b.id
inner join c on b.id = c.id
inner join d on c.id = d.id;

How to i apply expresion for Number format in RDL file in SQL reporting

Hi,
How do I apply Expression for number to display a more readable format in
report( like 4516785 into 4,516,785)in RDL file in SQL reporting services
i applyed " #,# " in custom format for number, it is supporting to numbers
except 0.
if the value of the number 0 then it is displaying blank value.
but i have to display 0 also.
if any body know the solution please point me .
thnaks in advance
mur.#,##0
The 0 means always show. So for instance you could also do this:
#,##0.0 which would have 1234.000 would show as 1,234.0 whereas #,##0.#
would show as 1,234

How to hide URL when display reports in reporting services

Hi ,

How can I hide the URL information when I open a report, some with parameters and some do not have

parameters. Is there anyway or properties in RS that I can set to have it hide all the important information,

like datasource, credentials, parameters, and display the report like a aspx page instead?

Or does this need to have special programming to make this happen? and if so, what do I need to do?

thanks very much

How to hide specific rows in TABLE?

My report result has 100 lines of records (details) and I only want to
display the first 10 rows and hide the rest of them. How can I achieve
that?
Thanks,
KeithYou can set the visibilty property of the row based on the count of some
distinict item in the details being less than ten.
for example the expression for the visibiltiy property might read:
iif( Count( Fields!UniqueDetailItem.Value, "GroupNameIfNeeded" ) > 10,
True, False )
Hope this helps.

I tried with this expression something like:
=iif( Count( Fields!zzcusteu.Value) > 10, True, False )
But it still doesn't work. It just counted the total # of rows, if >10,
then hide all the rows (I want to the first 10 rows to be visible).
Any idea?
Thanks,
Keith|||Hi:
You can use this expression:
=iif( RowNumber( Nothing) > 10, True, False )
Since Count() return the total number of records, but RowNumber() return
the current row number
